4.3 Mercruiser starts and dies!

i have a 4.3 mercruiser took it out to the lake today and it ran great. came back home let it sit for a while went back out and hooked it up on the muffs and it fired up ran good for a few minutes and started to put it in gear and it died. Put it back in neutral went to crank it and it fired up and died right away. It did this several times until it wouldnt do anything but sit there and turn over. Confused abt this any suggestions

There's gas in the tank right?

I had the same similar problem with my 04' Mercruiser 4.3L 2 years ago. The culprit was the electronic pickup coil in the distributor cap. The new part was a sealed pickup coil instead of the corroded original.

sounds like it flooded....try it now....didn't work....ok start with the simplist possible solution like the bulb is not maintaining pressure after you pump it and enough gas is not getting to the engine...think gas related problems first....it gets expensive after that...good luck
