OK, just checking to be certain of EXACTLY what I have here. I am prepping for some crazy removal action and I have downloaded the relevant manuals to catch up on some reading. I THINK. So I wanted to check with you fellas.

GM 4.3LG, So what is the LG?? I have seen info on 4.3L and 4.3LX. What is the deal with LG?

On a GM block the stamping on the back means displacement and type of fuel.

So a 4.3LG is a 4.3 litre Gas engine. Not a model designation from Mercruiser/Volvo/Indmar/Crusader, or anyone else at all. Don't worry about it.

You have a 1989 4.3L (not LX). 2 barrel carb. The correct manual for you is #7. And the stern drive unit is 1990. Service manual #6.

From the looks of his first picture along with his statement "I am prepping for some crazy removal action" I would guess snow removal :p :D

HA! Well that was actually the first thing I did this morning (even though the Merc manuals made no mention of it anywhere). Right now Thumper the Baja is sitting in the sun bow up, stern down - draining.
