Hi everyone. Today I bought a 1989 Sea Ray 200 Cuddy Cabin no engine or out drive (prior engine 4.3 L merc). For parts I have a 1988 Sea Ray Seville with a good running 4.3 L merc. I still have to go ahead and take the engine out and remove and install the outdrive. So my question is what all should I make sure to change(bearings, seals, gaskets, betls etc.) no matter if its good now to make sure I have a good reliable engine. Not to familiar with this engine im sure you guys know of the do?s? Thank you

not to sound rude dude.....
But if you don't know wether or not to swap a belt or a bearing then maybe you shouldn't be doing this job......
I don't know you, or your ability.....
But i'll know ya when I tow ya......

Maybe the description was deceiving I wasn?t asking for the general change the belt, put in new plugs, wires. Ive rebuilt many engines this so happens to be my first 4.3 and its not a rebuild. When I build it ground up I change everything so there is no question and I guarantee my work, but as far as I can yank to motor and outdrive throw it in 8 hrs dosent mean that theres some seal behind the ?whatever? that I should have considered changing.. But since im not tearing down the engine what should I note to change that is perhaps problematic in this engine or a must for the age.

I have the same motor in my 91 Bayliner

since you're going to be pulling it, visually inspect everything while it's out. If it looks bad it probably is and should be replaced.

While your at it, someone else gave me this piece of advise as well, change all the belts and hoses. Save you from headaches down the road.

For the outdirve I would inspect everything once you have it off (put it in forward gear before pulling it!)

If everything spins free and without slop I don;t know that I would go through the expense of replacing parts yet. Keep in mind that the outdrive is very easy to remove and repair when it breaks, unless you're so worried that you think you're going to strand yourself.

In that case replace everything :)

Ayuh,... As long as it's Not a Saltwater motor,... It's Just Another motor....

Nothing really Problematic about it, other than it's a Motor,+ in a Boat.......:)
