35hp waterpump

We have a 1988 35hp merc that we were trying to change the water pump in. Anyways we got all the LU bolts off but we couldn't get the unit off. what are we doing wrong here do we have to disconnect the shift cable or something like that.

Did you get the bolt under the trim tab?

yeah we got it off. it took some time though

yes with some Merc out boards you need to discount the shift linkage.
