Trying to choose between the REMAN PLUS, 357 MAG BRAVO 4V (BRAVO 3) or the 350 ALPHA MPI for a 28' Mariner Flybridge, any advice?

I put two new Bravo 357s in Our 31' Chaparral. A significant performance increase over the original 260 HP engines. :)

I personally wouldn't put a small block of any kind in a 28' flybridge boat, unless it's a really light boat.

Unless there are two of them, I am with mkast and DonS. Big block required. And if there really is only one engine/drive NO WAY would it be an Alpha.

But i am guessing there are two of them. In that case you have a hard decision to make. The ease of starting the MPIs or the better manueverability of the B3s. I would choose the B3s.

If you have a twin set up, why not run 350MPIs with B3 legs?

If it's a single, go big block...

I am guessing that it's a price thing. I'll bet you a nickel that the remanned/carbed 357 w/B3s are the same price as the 350MAG MPI with Alphas. I am certain that 350MAG MPIs w/B3s are going to be MUCH more expensive than either option he's presented.

Cost is a consideration the two options presented are a similar cost, the only other option available is a 383MAG STROKER with a Bravo 3 but this is a lot more expensive and I must admit I do not know the difference. The mechanic did not present this as an option?

I think we have established that the boat has one engine, it will be used predominately for cruising the river with the occasional off shore trip.

Your mechanic is not pointing you in the correct direction, then. A small block V8 in a true 28' flybridge cruiser is not a good match. It could be done, but I'll guess you'll always be wishing you had more power.
