I'd kinda call that 'no bid' so far, autotech.

Might be a pretty good deal if you lived close by. Not so sure, however, re his claim of the prop never having been run. At best, the apparent condition of the prop means that the whole setup has been sitting around for a long time and that might not bode well for the engine.

Even at $500 seems a lot for a 30 year old stern drive.

You might not want it for a newer boat bruce, but if you were trying to resurrect an older boat, there is not much you could get for it for $500. You could chew that up, in a few new bits and pieces, in the blink of an eye. At least with this you'd get most all the little pieces.
