I can;t find my other post, but it hit a dead end anyways.

I need to know by tomorrow what I need to do if I plan to install a truck engine into an alpha one mercruiser. The old one is not fixable. Its a 350 chevy 260HP.

Something about flywheels, starters, and mounting ears I seem to read about is what prevents people from swapping.

first you need to determine if the engines are the same vintage. if you have a 12 3/4 flywheel you will have 2 piece rear main seal a 14 3/4 flywheel will have a 1 piece rear main seal. you need a marine starter marine alternator and marine rated ignition. you need brass core plugs in the block steel won't last. you need a marine circulating water pump marine ones have a brass impeller so it wont rust. recommend changing to marine head gaskets

You will also need a marine carb and fuel pump.

From what I have been told yes you need the marine cam. Still don't understand why its a "Marine Cam" but that's what I have been told. How bad is the old engine? You pretty much have everything needed aside from the head gasket kit.

Good Luck with it, I'm interested to see how you make out.

Cheers Rick.
