Well, today the weather was just perfect so i decided to take my boat for the first test. After a small adventure as the tire of the trailer was ruined as i drove...I put it in the water, and i was waiting until the temperature come in working level.I then accelerate so to plane the boat. But unfortunately it did not have power. Something like stall, something that it had not enough fuel......i stoped and i tied again. The idle was trembled 500-600 rpm (not steady) and after about 5 sec, the idle was steady at 550rpm without tremble. So i decided to accelerate again. The second attempt was fine and the boat accelerated just perfect. MUCH MUCH better and with only about the half throttle, the boat came into plane very quickly. This was something that made me very happy because i understood that this engine is MUCH stronger than my previous. The boat run fine for about 30seconds at about 3000rpm and again the engine drop rpms, rise again....drop etc. I stopped to see what is going wrong....i was sure something about the fuel. I was surprised that the fuel gauge had started to drop and it was at 3/4.(i had filled the tank 15minuted before) When i opened the engine hatch, i smelled fuel and i saw a lot of fuel down of the engine. So i had to throw fuel out of the engine compartment with the bilge. The bilge was working for about 3minutes!!!A lot of fuel and that was why the fuel gauge dropped at 3/4!10gallons of fuel at the sea!!!! Finally, the fuel was coming from the fuel sender. Obviously, i had not tight the screws very well and fuel was coming off. After that, and as i had not tools with me, i decided to go back to trailer.
I think that i was lucky that there were no explosion. I could of catch fire!
Is there a possibility that the engine stalled because there were fuel leak (i saw the fuel to come off from the fuel sender very quickly) . The engine gave me the sense that it had not enough fuel to run. Something like it sucked air instead of fuel. What should i check tomorrow.....except to tight secure the fuel sender? i am sure that the fuel line is ok with no sharp bends as i checked it with care when i installed it.
SO, as you can see....my first test had not the results i expected..Please HELP ME!!!
Thank you very much...

Have you ever checked the fuel filter/water seperator for water?
When was the last time the filter was changed.
Does this engine have a year, or a serial number. there are differences between year ya know.

The engine is brand new! This was the first ride....the first test in the water. I have just repowered my boat with this engine. The production date is June of 2009 but i can give you the serial number tomorrow . Any other ideas where to check? Is is possible the engine to stall because of the fuel leak from the fuel level sensor?

PERFECT!!!!.......
I finally managed to test my boat with the new engine..
Comparing with the previous engine (5.7LX 4bbl), the new is a little bit quiter, MUCH smooth , needs less fuel, and as far as i pushed it a lot stronger at low revs. The boat came to plane with the half throtle. Till now, (with the old engine)i pushed the boat at wot for about 2-3 sec and then it came to plane. But now only with the half and is is done. Now, concerning the fuel consumption, after i calibrated the smartcraft speedo so to show exact the same speed with the gps, my cruise speed is 40mph@3600 rpm with 1.0miles/litre.Now the engine has 3,5 running hours. Is it possible after some hours to become more economic? And something else....i read the manual how to use the engine at the first 10hours.not steady revs for long time,i accelerated 200 by 200rpm and the maximum revs at about 3/4 of full...that is about 3900rpm. To be honest, i pushed the engine at about 4100rpm for about 30secs. But when i accelerated from 3800 to 4100, the engine raised the rpms a little bit slow.So slow that something tells me that if i had to push it at wot, it would not reach even 4500rpms.I have enertia 22p and with my previous engine i reached 4500-4550rpm at wot.As my new engine is about +65hp@prop i beleive that i will reach at least 5000rpms. I have a question. As the engine is totaly new and has only 3,5 hours, will it become more powerful at high revs?I expected that from 3800 to 4100rpms it could be peace of cake. And concerning the fuel consuption, what do you think?
Thank you very much.
