Well, today the weather was just perfect so i decided to take my boat for the first test. After a small adventure as the tire of the trailer was ruined as i drove...I put it in the water, and i was waiting until the temperature come in working level.I then accelerate so to plane the boat. But unfortunately it did not have power. Something like stall, something that it had not enough fuel......i stoped and i tied again. The idle was trembled 500-600 rpm (not steady) and after about 5 sec, the idle was steady at 550rpm without tremble. So i decided to accelerate again. The second attempt was fine and the boat accelerated just perfect. MUCH MUCH better and with only about the half throttle, the boat came into plane very quickly. This was something that made me very happy because i understood that this engine is MUCH stronger than my previous. The boat run fine for about 30seconds at about 3000rpm and again the engine drop rpms, rise again....drop etc. I stopped to see what is going wrong....i was sure something about the fuel. I was surprised that the fuel gauge had started to drop and it was at 3/4.(i had filled the tank 15minuted before) When i opened the engine hatch, i smelled fuel and i saw a lot of fuel down of the engine. So i had to throw fuel out of the engine compartment with the bilge. The bilge was working for about 3minutes!!!A lot of fuel and that was why the fuel gauge dropped at 3/4!10gallons of fuel at the sea!!!! Finally, the fuel was coming from the fuel sender. Obviously, i had not tight the screws very well and fuel was coming off. After that, and as i had not tools with me, i decided to go back to trailer.
I think that i was lucky that there were no explosion. I could of catch fire!
Is there a possibility that the engine stalled because there were fuel leak (i saw the fuel to come off from the fuel sender very quickly) . The engine gave me the sense that it had not enough fuel to run. Something like it sucked air instead of fuel. What should i check tomorrow.....except to tight secure the fuel sender? i am sure that the fuel line is ok with no sharp bends as i checked it with care when i installed it.
SO, as you can see....my first test had not the results i expected..Please HELP ME!!!
Thank you very much...
