Re: 35 hp Viking

354621 is a Chrysler built 1966 35hp. I have some additional information as well, courtesy of Jeff Hankinson:

Horsepower 35 brake HP at 4750 RPM
Engine two cycle two cylinder, alternate firing
Electric and Manual start, negative ground Magneto ignition system
Bore and stroke 3” x 2.540”
Displacement 35.9 Cu. In.
Carburetor Float feed
Connecting rod Forged Nickel Steel – Caged roller bearings at crankshaft. Cased needle bearings at piston pin
Crankshaft Forged Nickel Steel. Ball bearings at upper Main. Caged rollers at Centre and Lower Main bearings.
Propeller Aluminum alloy – 10 3/8 Dia. X 11 1/2 pitch, Right hand rotation
Cooling Water cooled –Thermostatically controlled - positive displacement type water pump
Transom height 15” or 20”
Weight 116 Lbs. for standard shaft model.
Fuel mixture 48:1 1 pint SAE 30 outboard engine oil to 6 gallons of regular gas – 85 octane
Avoid ‘Premium’ gasolines with 95 octane and antiknock additives
Recommended Operating range – 4400 – 5100 RPM If heavy duty applications then mixture 24:1

Obviously you would use TC-W3 rated outboard oil today instead of "SAE 30 outboard oil". I find 20ml of oil per litre of gas more convinent than working it out in gallons.

Thanks for all the great info. Paul.
For the sake of finding used parts, I was hoping it was an OMC produced engine... Oh well.

Re: 35 hp Viking

Your welcome. That info is taken directly from the Viking owner's manual. Note the suggestion even then to avoid high octane & leaded gasolines.

Gale (OMC's third outboard division) shut down in '63, which ended the deliveries to Eaton's. They then switched to Chrysler, who had just purchased The West Bend Manufacturing Company. Chrysler sold off it's marine division to USMarine in the 80s who sold their outboards under the name FORCE, and eventually Mercury picked them up after they failed. So you can still find some parts available from a Mercury dealer.

Looks like you've got a few OMCs from your other post in the J/E section. It's awful how these grow on you!
