I have a 1982 35 hp evin. with a hard starting problem every now and then. When I first start it ,it runs fine I take off full bore and stop in about 15 minutes then fish for 10 minutes and it won't start.I pull up high idle lever and it starts but when I lower the idle down it falls on its face. I put a spark tester during this and it is getting spark all during this ordeal!! So I am thinking it is fuel related??I switched tanks and same thing. If I baby this motor all day it will run just fine without missing a lick.I am going out today and buy a new fuel line and primerbulb assembly and give it a try.I also rebuilt the carb. but it was as clean as a pin and that wasn't the problem. I also bought a new fuel pump and that wasn't the trouble either.Any ideas????/ thanks

hi there

>if you let it run in the high idle position for a few minutes, will it then idle down without stalling?
>does it have a strong tell tale?
>what octane fuel are you using?
(I'm wondering if its running hot, then Percolating)

Re: 35 evinrude starting problems

I raise my high idle on my remote and just as soon as I drop it down it falls on it's face. If I ram it down quickly I have to ram it in gear and throttle it up or it will die.I also noticed today when this happensmy fuel bulb is very spongy. I am getting a new fuel bulb and try that. thanks :p
