Im resealing my lower unit and am having a bear of a time getting the old driveshaft and propshaft seals out. I dont have any seal pulling tools, does anyone have any suggestions on a home made tool or an alternate tool besides a hammer and chisle. Thanks... Quag

Are you trying to replace the seals without splitting the gearcase?

The prop shaft seal has (I believe) housing retainer that must be removed before the seal...which mean unbolting the lower half/skeg. There is a pin that keeps the retainer in place.

Is the skeg removed?

Re: 33 hp lower unit seals

Lower unit is completely disassembled, I did figure out the prop shaft seal, there is 2 small holes on the outside of the retainer so I cut of the proper sive nail and tapped it out no problem I made a tool to remove the shifter seal no problem. ( cut the end off of a long paddle bit) The tough one is the driveshaft seal on top. I dont want to ruin the housing bulldogging this thing out.
