31 Sea Ray Sportfish

I'm looking at a 31' 1981 Sea Ray with twin 454 Crusaders having 300 hours. Cruising speed is 25Knots. What should I expect for fuel consumption?

Hello<br /> a 31 footer with twin 454's? dont even mention fuel consumption just make sure it has at least 200-250 gallon capacity. talk about quiet ride or beautiful lines or lie about the big one that got away twice and bit off the swim platform but with a pair of big blocks dont discuss fuel. it will make you feel better <br />Good luck and keep posting

You may want to go to the Searay website and compare your boat to a new one with similar engines.<br /><br />They may have factory specs over there to give you a rough idea... just a thought.<br /><br />RODBOLT... you should be ashamed of yourself getting the poor guy all worked up and stuff like that! <br /><br />You know DARN WELL they now have credit card slot swipers installed on these big block babies in place of the regular fuel fillers from years ago.<br /><br />Jeeesh man! ... don't ya know nuTTn?

I have a 34’ sea ray with twin 454’s 340 hp. I use about 30 gph at 3300 rpm doing about 25 mph. WOT? Don’t do it. You will not believe how much gas can go through those little fuel lines. I can run 18 mph at 2800 using 20 gph. I cannot get the economy that mercruiser said I should have. At the current time my MPG is quite good though.

a basic rule of thumb is 10%of the rated hp.at wot. so scampers boat has 340 hp per engine that would be at least 34 gph X 2 = 68 gph. so i can see why he cruises @3300 rpm

John, your right on. We tested my boat, full of fuel, 1/2 tank water, 2 people on board, calm sea, app. 15,000 lbs and got 64 gph. Needless to say we didn't do this all day. I try to cruise at 28-2900 rpms.
