Turns out they were members of Seal Team 6! The same team that got OBL...

As a retired Military Officer, my heart hurts when I hear of events like this happening, my thoughts are with those who have lost and pray they find some peace in knowing they were killed doing their duty, men, peace is now with you, you have given it all, may your journey be short and peace be with you. I salute you and your sacrifice.

Helicopter down in Afghanistan, R.I.P. to the SEALS

Helicopter down in Afghanistan, R.I.P. to the SEALS

Here's a link to an article about the incident.

Devastating loss to our military...and more so for the families.:(

I grew up with one of the SEALS killed.

Same grade in school in a small town, both of our fathers coached little league, he was always the best athlete.

I was not surprised to learn that while most of us went to college, he passed all the tests to become a SEAL.

It's a big price to pay for freedom when it hits this close to home.

I was really looking forward to being able to thank him for his tremendous service to our country some day.

Perhaps one day we will not be so quick to start useless wars and send our best and brightest off to their death.

Yeah, we'd be much better off to fight them over here on our own ground - that worked out real well with the World Trade Center.

Tis sad indeed but when you invade another country and start a war...

Tis sad indeed when another country attacks us, and our own citizens don't even realize it .....

Bubba,

As a vet of both Afghanistan as well as Iraq where I took a bullet, I am going to have to disagree with your position, I know this can become very political and will be shut down, but in the whole scope of world politics, we need to be there.. I paid a big price and I still support our being in Afghanistan 110%

There is a reason these brave men fell!

The Taliban supported the architect of 9/11 100%, we are fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan, if they ever gain power again, believe me, they are going to be much more difficult to fight than they are now, they would and will kill you without a second thought and they would kill your family because they killed you.. The Taliban is a very serious threat to not only the US, but the world as a whole..

Well, Afghanistan is sort of in the same area I guess.

Why does it not surprise me that geography is a mystery to you? :D

I can agree in part but,,, after the LONGEST war in US history and no closer to an end than when it started, I'd say we have spent our load and it didn't work. Time to leave. Umm, of course you know many said the same of North Vietnam (my war) and they were just as wrong then as now. We left and the war ended and the people were grateful.

Just like "my war", you kill 1000 and 10,000 volunteer to take their place.

Bubba, have you ever served? if the answer is yes, what theater and what capacity?

STOP.

Let us show some respect here. This thread is about the loss of servicemen and is really not the time or place to debate.

Gentlemen...... please do not push this thread into a lock.

I am retired from the US Army similar to other retired service people here. I have the deepest regret for the loss of any life and my condolences go out to all who are touched by this.
