30hp tohatsu carb question

I'm just curious if anyone knows if a 40hp tohatsu carb will fit on a 30hp 2 stroke... I had a guy tell me it would but would like a little more info on that..

Short answer: No. The 40C is indeed a single-carb setup, but it would dramatically over-carb a 25/30A4, and you would need to fabricate an adapter plate, since the bolt pattern is different. The 40D is a 3-carb setup, with 3 small carbs. Those would not work at all. In any event, I highly doubt whether it would work out well. The guy is an idiot.

Yep, the guy is a big theoretical idiot. If wanting to get the max out of that 30 go for a prop maximization, need a induction tach for that one. What pitch is number is stamped on prop body/blade, is it a 13 pitch ? which size boat is it powering ?
