I have a 1994 30hp mercury 2 cyl outboard.

the engine have a strange problem:

When i start the engine with both cylinders wires connected, it runs on only 1 of them, it doesnt stop when idle, but doesnt run smooth either.

If i disconnect the cylinder always running, the engine actually starts on the cylinder not running , but the engine doesnt idle but stops after 3 sec. i have to give the engine lots of rpm to keep it going on this cylinder.

BUT, if i start the engine on the bad cylinder, and connect the wires from the CDM assembly (coil??)of the good cylinder, the engine runs perfect for 3 seconds, thereafter it only runs at the "good" cylinder, not the 1 i started the engine with

This problem is most likely electrical. Both cylinders have good compression.

Hope u understand what im trying to explain, as my english isnt the best

Ergo: i cant get the engine running on both cylinders at the same time
Coils are good, but can this be a problem with the stator, trigger, flywheel magnets or other???

The engine is a manual start engine, no batteries or any other electrical components.

My understanding is that the power isnt contolled right, the current cant feed both sylinders at the same time......??

Please any1 help me, as this is making me go crazy here in norway
