How can u tell if you have a 302 or a 302 HO? The boat is a 89 fourwinns 180 horizon

Do you mean a roller cam vs a flat tappet cam? 302 vs 5.0L

dont really know, firing order is diffrent on HO vs regular 5.0? boats not running right, trying to rule out stuff.

I believe you are correct on the firing order differences. I know the HO usese the 351 firing order 13726548 (I have one). The standard order is 15426378

Ok found model number 502APRMED, 4th space is either A or B, found link on this site. Does any one know if A is the 185 or 200 hp

Most later Ford SBF marine engines used the 351W firing order, 13xxxxxxx. At least some earlier versions had the lower HP rating and used the std 15xxxxxx firing order.

By 1989 that had to be near the last of the Ford Marine engines. Also by that time Ford vehicles had switched to the Roller Cam 5.0 but I do not know if they ever used them in marine apps.

Try out the 351 firing order. Can't hurt anything. Don't have a clue what that number you posted is about. It is not a Ford number.

Also look on the intake manifold and see if they ground off the firing order. If so, yours is a 351 FO.

points and condenser did the trick, last thing to replace. Never had and ignition system that was not electronic? Thanks
