Will a 1956 30 hp Johnson driveshaft fit a 1957 35 hp? The reason is the 35 hp is a long shaft that I wish to convert to short shaft. I do have a short driveshaft from a 1956 30 hp, will it fit the 1957 35 hp? How about the shift rod will this have to be changed as well from long to short? I guess another question would be what other model years would fit the 1957 35 hp?
<br /><br />The water tube ought to have a 5" extension on it. Simply remove & discard it.<br />You'll need a new, shorter bolt for the back of the lower unit. Again, 5" shorter than the one you've got.<br />Hope this helps!
