3 wire rectifier question

After testing the rectifier that had no ohm reading i ordered the replacement.
The new one is made by CDI. It has one red and two yellow wires. The old one had one red,one yellow and one yellow with a stripe.
Does it matter that the new one has two solid yellow wires?
I assume it does not matter which way they hook up as long as the red is in the correct spot.

No - those are in an AC circuit so polarity is not an issue.

Put it in and it went from 12.4 volts at 2000 rpm to 13.5 volts.
Is that enough of a charge for a 1981 175 hp? Or do i have other issues?

13.5 sounds about right. 13.8 is typical charge voltage and yours might be there at higher RPM.

Thanks BoatBuoy....I will check it out on the water. My fish finder will read voltage and i'll carry my meter too..

Since that is an unregulated system, you will find great fluctuations in the voltage. After a long run, it can go way up to around 16 volts, depending on battery and load, etc.
