I have a 1984 mercury 115 with the 3 ram trim unit in it, i recently replaced the pump motor (and pump cause the old one wouldn't fit the new motor) and that is when i ran into problems.
The two trim rods on the unit move in and out, albeit slowly, when you run the pump, but not matter what i do, the tilt cylinder will not move what so ever. My dad suspects a stuck check valve in the unit body, i think its the pump itself being a different design than the old one.
The pump ran fine before aside from the old motor being corroded and needing to be wailed on with a hammer to get it to start pumping.
I have tried every way i could to bleed the system and im using the mercon ATF in it so i have no idea where to go next, so this is my last resort before having to go to a shop
