I was checking base timing by starting engine and bringing up to operating temp then jumper the 2 white dist wires together and bypass the shift interrupt wires. After timing was set I reconnected shift interrupt wire and removed jumper from distributor. The engine would not come out of base timing mode, which in the past it would.

Turn it off and restart it. Did it come out of Base Mode then?

Recheck the interrupt switch is connected properly.
