3.0 vlvo penta not pushing water to thermostat

hello and thanks in advance.I have a 2005 volvo .3.0 whith sx outdrive and i have replaced my impeller and still cannot get water to flow to the engine the motor will cool just fine with garden hose attached but when i put it in the lake its not pushing water up to the top hose on the t-stat housing i think it could be an air leak what and how should i check in the out drive? and also i did nothing last year to winterize the outdrive could that be an issue

What's the model number for your engine, Volvo doesn't list anything by year. Only model or SN.

the motor will cool just fine with garden hose attached
Where is the garden hose attached, muffs? Flushing hose on the engine?
If a flushing hose on the engine, are you sure the cap is on tight with a good gasket when in the water? If not, it will suck air and not cool.

it cools with the muffs and with the engine flush port is ther anything in the oudrive i should check?

Sure, did you read and follow that overheat diagnosis file I linked you to above?

well here is an update I replaced my impeller a while back and when i did i put the new o ring on but did not take my old one off so i was sucking air!!so i fixed that and was cooling good then all of the sudden it started overheating so i took off the impeller housing and there was fins missing.so another trip to the boat store and hopefully i'll be through.
p.s. i am lookin for all the debris beore i continue.
this was my first time on here but not my last im sure anyway thanks for the help.

I am having the exact same problem with my 3.0.

Have you come up with a losution?

Have you changed the thermostat?

Why don't you just start your own thread and post your problem. His problem may not be caused by the same thing as yours.
