I have just replaced the starter on my 87 3.0. I replaced it because through the forum I realized that I did not have the 4th prong on the solenoid for the purple/yellow wire. I have been stranded before because of low battery issues. Now that I have replaced the starter I get a terrible grinding noise when trying to start but no turning over of the flywheel. The wiring looks correct according to the diagrams.<br />This new "Heavy duty" starter is from a merc dealer.
