We are looking at new 18 ft I/O bowriders.
One weighs 1950lbs. and the other 2600lbs.
Our family weighs 600Lbs.
Add another 600lbs. for freinds.
Will the 3.0 give us enough power to ski or is it worth the extra $2000 to get the 4.3
Will the 3.0 give us enough power to ski with just one famly in the boat.
The manufaturer of the heavier boat says that it is all in the hull design.I Can't imagine that one company really has a better design. They all claim to have the best!!!

Re: 3.0 or 4.3

I'd be looking for V8 to haul that load water sking. No doubt the 4.3 is the engine you need if a V8 isn't. Even at that I think you'll be off loading some heads at a beach. The 4.3 will also make the boat easier to sell when the family's get heavier. I just laughing here, I've never heard a family described by weight before, it does get to the point though. You'll probably recover most of that 2k when you sell it.
