I have a 210wa Sea-Pro with a 3.0 lx mercruiser that has just recently developed this problem. I'm ok until I get to 3000 rpm or over. Then it sounds as if the engine comes under strain and the rpms pick up but the boats speed drops off by 8-10 mph. I borrowed a prop from my brother with a 17 degree pithc and 15" dia. I am wondering if the hub of this prop may be shot. Or is it something in the outdrive unit that is causing this. Sure would appreciate any info that you can pass my way. Thanks to all for the help. Mike.

The only 2 things that'll cause this......
A Spun prop hub, or a stripped coupler.....
I Hope it's the prop.....

bondo, I sure hope that it's the prop hub as well. However, if it is the coupler what kind of job am I looking at to replace/repair it? Thanks.

It's simple. Remove engine, replace coupling, re-install engine, align engine to outdrive, and you're done. Now wasn't that easy?

Just a thought. I had similar symptoms one time and it turned out to be ignition related, worn distributor shaft bushings. It would run just fine at home, at the ramp, but after a longer run it seemed as though the boat would start slowing down but the tack was still up. You might want to check for excessive play in the distributor or maybe some shorted wires. Good luck

I'd say it's the prop hub too. Is it getting worse?
