3.0 L Mercruiser

I'm considering buying a Chaparral 18ft, it has the 3.0L inline 4. The engine isn't working right now though, my question is....is there anyway of getting more horsepower from this engine? And how fast are these boats, I can't find any info

1800SL,<br /><br />THere IS NO WAY, of realistically getting more power out of it.<br /><br />For family cruising, etc., they do OK in a light hull. If you want to ski-forget it.<br /><br />The 3.0 was a price entry level engine.

1800,<br /> Ive got a 3 liter in my 18' bayliner its not bad for doing some skiing but more power is definitely handy. I guess its a matter of personal preference. If you know where to get a used block for a 3 liter let me know.
