Ok heres what I have
1988 fourwinns
3.0 omc engine
Delco EST distributor ..not points So I am guessing the motor is newer or retrfitted.
The carb is trashed i think. I had a rebuild kit put in it but i am still running rich. Pump is fine and float is correct.
The idle mixture screws barely make a difference.
The guy that had this boat boogered everything he touched so i am suspecting the carb is worthless also. From all the pics ive seen of carbs for this year they look close but not the same as what i have. What I have is a Holley carb. And i cant find the correct numbers on it.
Anyways I see mercarb and rochesters look totally differnt to me.
I would like to know the correct model of carb to buy for this engine I have.
Different brands and numbers would be nice.
Budget is low
Thanks

Re: 3.0 correct carb

I wanted to add this.
I have an inline fuel pressure guage it reads around 10psi at idle. Is this way too much? And if so WTH? bad pump cause high pressure?

Yes 10psi is too high for a carb, should be 4-7psi

This is confusing. Im not finding any info on how the pressure gets to be too high on this pump

I own a 3ltr omc.Last year it was running super rich and I tried lots of things to no avail,I finally figured out that the spark arrester on the top of the carb was plugged ,it looked fine, but when I cleaned it with brakclean spray ,you should have seen the crap that came out.Made all the difference in the world.

Yeh they do get plugged but still look clean. I clean mine all the time. Thanks for the idea.
