Wonderful day on lake Travis yesterday a little bit of chop but not to bad. Got to the ramp about 1030 no one was there. Got it down the ramp an in the water no issues there. Took our dog for the first time. He was nervous barked at the engine but then relaxed. played on the water for about 3 hours then over to The pier to eat.

Fun in the sun

We were laughing and chatting how well the boat was behaving and life was good. Started a run back to a swimming area where we were gonna relax a bit again then somthing fun happened. I heard the sound like when you turn the key that little beep and then all gauges died.

I had lost all power but engine was still running. I decided better to keep it running and go to the ramp dock. I get there not thinking about raising the engine i shut off the boat. Could have kicked myself. So now i have to troubleshoot here in the water. Pull the cover check the fuses on the motor seems to be fine. Maybe its the battery I take the positive from the troll an switch with positive from main battery ( if you read that right this is where it gets fun) Nothing.

i say ok ill use the troll to get me to the loading ramp get it parton trailer then raise the motor by hand an tie it up. I notice a broken fuse beside the trolling motor. I think hmm guess trolling motor not gonna work. So i grab a 12v fuse off the fish finder hook to fuse on bow turn back on batterys. I put the troll in the water hit the switch and i here the beep for the starter. HUH? I have to hold the motor in the on position and im able to raise the motor great lets get it back on the trailer.

This puzzles me when i get home for the next 2 hours. then it hits me. By hitting the trolling motor on I complete the circuit because I just moved the positives but not the negatives. So I switch the batterys back and everything works as normal. I pull out the fuse and everything dies again. Seems for some reason I have a master fuse for mortor and all electronics on the bow of the boat. Oh what fun a used boat can be.
