I noticed the fuel leak in the line feeding 2bbl Mercarb. When I untied the fitting fuel inlet thread was stripped pretty badly since the previous owner tied the fitting all the way in while it was at an angle. Is there any way to repair the thread and how if there is. Thank you. Also I noticed that the bolt on the throttle control is broken and the tying nut is sitting on the very end of the broken bolt - maybe 2-3 turns. Is there any way to repair this? I'll make a couple pics and post them shortly.
Thank you.

Nope,..... Replace the carb, or the part of the carb,....

Then another question, what is the best place to find a used body of mercarb? Would automotive 2bbl rochester carburetors work or what is the automotive equivalent of 2bbl mercarb? Thx

If the inlet thread size is 5/8ths , locate a tap and retap it

Thank you guys, I did not know there are self tapping fuel line fitting plugs to repair stripped thread. I found the exact carburetor, core with bad lower body and intact upper body on ebay. Hopefully this will be enough to resolve the issue. If the core carb will not work, ill try to use the self tapping repair fitting. Worst case scenario, i have a 2bbl mercarb from 5.0l engine, almost the same except fitting is pointing to the port side instead of the front like mine, so i would have to change the fuel line to match the carb. NAPA sells various lengths of the fuel line pipes with one side flange. I would have to bend it right way and after putting fittings on both sides, flange the remaining side.
Can i use teflon tape on the fitting or the gas will eat it up?

Hopefully, the carb ya got comin', will supply the part ya need,....

The self-tappin' fittin' is for 5/16" line, our boats use 3/8",....
None of these connections require any sealants,....
The adapter into the carb, should have a gasket washer,.....
The line into it is a flare fittin', no sealant,....

I meant, should I use teflon tape on the thread of the fitting nut? And on the nut tying the fuel line to the fitting? Thx

the bolt on the throttle lever is broken at the thread, there are maybe 2 full turns are left. Is there any way either to replace this lever (if possible I will take one from the stock carb) or remove this pin/bolt and install the stud like the newer carburetors have? Thank you

Today I received the core carb, the top unit was the only working part, but it worked perfectly with the carburetor I had. I put one carburetor out of two. Tried it in the boat and the engine ran perfectly. Also the replaced valve cover gasket resolved the oil leak. Tomorrow will take this boat to the lake and test it for a couple hours. There is some small leak of the gear lube from the monitor, minor one but I will try to remove the nut and the sending unit to see if it could be tightened up to remove the leak.
