Sorry if this is in the wrong forum. I am new to boating and know very little. I recently purchased my first old boat. It is a Melhart/Baretta Supersport 200 w/ the volvo penta 275 sterndrive. The engine is a AQ131D. I am not sure what the HP is on it. I researched and found a couple different answers. One site said 120 hp and I think this site says 146 hp. The weight of the boat dry is around 2200 lbs. The guy I bought it from tore up the prop so I had to replace it before my first outing. I put a 14x17p oem prop back on it. I took it out for the first time last weekend to lake gaston. It seems to run great, but top speed was only 28mph at 5000rpm WOT! This just doesn't seem right to me. Should I change the prop to another size? What kind of speed should I get out of this boat at WOT? The suggested WOT rpm range says 4700-5000. The gear ratio that I found on it says 2.15:1
Maybe this is about right for this boat? I don't know. I just expected a little more speed since it was a fish/ski. Thanks for any help or input you can offer.
