25M Mercury 25hp 2-stroke - need info

I posted a question about a 2008 Merc 2-stroke in this forum. I found another dealer close by that says he has a brand new 25 hp Merc 2-stroke for about $900 cheaper than the 2o hp 4 stroke.

Does anyone know anything about these engines? Are they made by Merc, or another company? Are they reliable? How much do they weight? I am assuming there would be a strong performance difference between this a a 20hp Merc 4 stroke?

There is no info about this engine on the Merc website. Is this a Canada only engine or something?

Any opinions or infor appreciated.

Looks like this motor is a Tohatsu like the four stroke. The specs for both motors are identical:

Thanks! Are these good motors? Are they reliable? Fuel efficient? Which would you choose, the 20 hp 4-stroke or the 25 hp 2-stroke?

Yes, yes and yes....Just like every other outboard. I prefer 2-stroke power as I don't need a hernia, like hole-shot and believe that I can spend the money I save on something more important like:

Gas
Ice Cream
Vodka
Hereford tenderloin
My Weimaraner
My underground bunker and no, I don't have room for you

Thanks for the input. I ended up going with the four-stroke as that boat dealer moved enough on the price. I think the 4-stroke will better suit my needs than the extra speed on the 25 hp 2-stroke.
