I have a 2002 25hp Evinrude. The motor does not produce the same power as my 1996 25hp Evirude that I previously had on boat. Motor starts, runs, idles perfectly but does not seem to produce the same rpm as my 96( Sounds different).
I have checked throttle cable, gas is good as well as oil mix, tank hose and ball are good, new spark plugs. I hesitate to tear into carburetor because motor runs so well. Could motor run this well with a weak fuel pump ?? Anyone have any suggestions

Ahoy, shocker.

:welcome:

You need to measure rpm on both, or at least the newer one. "Seems" is not quantifiable.

A different prop could produce all of the effects you mention.

Thank you for reply. Prop sizes are the same as well as the pitch of the props. How would I measure RPM at full speed ?

You would need a tachometer for that, Shocker. You might be able to rent/borrow a mini tach from your dealer. On second thought, comparing speed at WOT using a GPS could verify or contradict your impressions.
