I have a 2001 Yamaha 4 stroke outboard that turns over but doesn't start. It ran like a watch last season without a hiccupp. I didn't get around to winterizing it until this past November and when i did it turned over fine but just wouldn't start.
I used fresh gas with startron additive, the batteries are fully charged, All the fuel line hoses are in good condition, the spark plugs look good, I did try shooting some gas into the tube that connects to the carburetor and it did start but ran only till it used up that small amt of gas.
The weather turned to crap and we had snow a few days later and I couldn't get it winterized so i drained the lower unit and sprayed some fogging oil into the cylinders and cranked it over for a few seconds.
Its sitting now under a tarp and if it ever stops raining this week I will try to start it again for the new season..
I'm hoping its the fuel pump which looks like an easy fix. "ANY THOUGHTS" are appreciated. Thanks all

I would say that confirms the issue: lack of fuel. That could be due to a leak somewhere in the fuel system. So really inspect all the fuel lines and the fuel joint to make sure they're ok first.

The fuel pump is easy to replace, but it's about $80. So I think it's worth inspecting before you replace it. You should be able to find a video on YouTube on how to inspect it (even if it's not your exact model, they all work the same).

If the pump isn't the problem, then I would replace the fuel strainer. If that doesn't help, then I would take the carb apart, clean it, and re-assemble it.
