Outboard 25hp 1990 Johnson Dies after 30 mins

My 1990 25hp outboard Johnson motor starts and will run for 30 to 45 mins then dies and won’t start again. After it completely cools it starts. The impeller is new and pumping water. What might be the problem?

Look into ignition probs.

Not super experienced but usually when something runs fine like that and then dies, it's something shorting out when it heats up and expands. Hence why letting it cool lets it start up fine again. I'm not familiar with the more recent (non-points) ignition systems but I'd look there. Especially anything electronic (like the CDI control module, if that's something you have on your motor) opposed to the actual wires and coils that would be less sensitive I figure.
