25hp 1978 Evinrude - Magneto or coil start??

I'm installing a man-over board kill switch on my boat, but I need to know whether my engine (a 1979 25hp Evinrude) is coil or magneto start.

Should also have said it's an electric start - no recoil.

Hi Tim. <br /><br />Yours is a CD ignition which means there are no points.<br /><br />Look for the Black/yellow stripe wire coming from the harness at the igniton switch. Connect one of the wires from the kill switch to this terminal on the key switch and the other wire to ground. <br /><br />And if ya' don't have one, get a manual. They have wiring diagrams that will help. A generic will suffice for your needs. Check the iboats store to get one.<br /><br />Good Luck!
