250 Yamaha SHO Speed

I have a 22' Veranda Tritoon with a 250 Yamaha SHO. It has a 17 pitch SS prop.
Currently I have a top speed of about 40 mph at 5900 rpm. Shouldn't it run faster than 40 mph?
I have checked the toon's for water.

I tried to find your model at Yams website. Could not find your exact boat.

From what I can see from looking at the PB's, 40 MPH does not seem unreasonable but it depends upon the atmospheric pressure (motors make more or less HP depending upon the weather) and the weight of the boat.

Hopefully, you can open this link and take a look for yourself.s Notice that the tests are done with just two folks on board. Easy to load up a pontoon with lots of people.

Click on SHO, 4.2 liter SHO, then select Veranda under the boat manufacturer tab.
