250 hp yamaha any good?

guy says he has a 85 yamaha 250 hp motor for sale.. are they a good motor? anyhelp would be appricated

I didn't think that yamaha made a 250 hp motor in 1985 (unless it is some non-US motor). As far as I know, they might have had a 220 hp motor called a Special back in 85. Then towards the late 80's, they came out with a 225 hp called an Excel. I think that was only around for 1988-89. (that's the motor I have) I don't think the 250's came out until 1990-91.

Yamaha did not make a 250 HP in 1985. They made a 175 Hp, 200 HP/L200/S200 & a 220.0 hp V6 Special. The first year for the 250 was 1990' 250.0 hp V6 3.1L.
