I have a 2000 model Mariner 25. Manual start with tiller steering. It was working fine last time I used it (last summer) but I put the rubber water bootie thingy on it and cranked it today and it doesn't pee water out the back. Any ideas?

Sounds like it's time to change/replace the water pump impeller. It's easy to do. Get a manual for your engine and an impeller kit and go for it. If you have any questions, just post them here and someone will most likely have the knowledge to share.

Craig

Yea, take a paper clip, straighten it out, and check to see if the pee hole is clogged too. I had a small pice of sand in a Honda 25 that kept it from squirting.

Also heard of bees plugging the hole while stored.

Hey Hoss, I got a 1999 25 horse Merc and mine has a thermostat in it. It does take it a little while for it to open and get a good flow started. Kinda like and old man trying to pee. Like SeaDawg said, be sure and check the Tell-Tale and make sure it isn't stopped up. Down here where you and I are from the dadburn Dirt-Dobbers are bad to get up in the end of the tell-tale and stop it up. Pull the hose from the barb on the block and try to blow through it. That'll tell ya real quick.
