I have a 1988 Bayliner 2450 Ciera and I am looking to install flush mount pedestal base in the cabin. I have seen this arrangement in many boats of this type in the past. The question I have is does anybody have the spec where I should drill this 2 1/2" Dia hole that will be about 3" deep?

Is there a hollow portion under the cabin floor, such that this hole to drilled will not be a "dead-end"hole that I will have to chisle out? Also, while it is tough to get an inside measurement on the depth and compare to the outside of the hull, I am concerned that I may, while drilling thru the floor, drill right thru the hull, or at least compromise hull integrity if this floor is all solid wood right to the hull.

Is there any fellow bayliner boaters out there that could give me the mounting location (from the forward seat and from the Starboard and port side seating? and is there an air gap between teh floor and hull and if so how much?

Or can someone direct to a place where I can get this bayliner spec? Thanks
(Oh and no I do NOT want to use the surface mounted pedestal bases)

Personally, I'd contact Bayliner. That's a good size hole you're about to drill. I'd want to be absolutely sure what's there first. On the other hand, 2 1/2" deep will not put you through the bottom. Measure sole to gunwale on inside and do the same on the outside. What's the differance? I assume you already bought the mounting. If not, that flush plate is not bad, used on pedestal seats/leaning post, all the time. Is you concern, strength? ;)
