Would like to hear from someone who owns a 240 DA with the standard 5.0 L powerplant, have heard, in other forums, that it may be a dog to get it up on plane, was wondering if this is true and if changing to a 4 blade SS prop would change the fact. Any other likes or dislikes would be informative...thank you

Re: 240 Sundance

I have had a DA250 for 4 years. It is only 24'8" to the transom and a little heavier than the 240. I had a 5.7 260 hp with a duoprop which was adequate, but I don't think I would have been happy with any less power. I was able to pull up a 160 lb wakeboarder, but never tried a water skier.
I suggest you drive this boat with the 5.0 before you buy it, but I think you will need more hp.
Good luck, Joe

Re: 240 Sundance

Albany Joe, thanks 4 ur response, it's a used 2000 240 DA, so I have no choice in size of engine, wished I didn't like the way the boat itself looks, see what happens when we take it out 4 sea trials.. have u added anyhing onto ur Sundancer and r u running with a BIII DP??Any suggestions on the upkeep of the Merccathode System?? Thanks

Re: 240 Sundance

When I bought my boat (1998), I also looked at the 240. It had less headroom in the cabin, and fewer standard features. I do not think it has changed much in the 2 years.
I did not add anything mechanical to the boat
It had a Merc 350 - 260 hp with a Bravo III (not a duoprop, my mistake). I only ran in fresh water from May to Sept and had no problems. I hate to tell you but I don't know what a Mercathode system is.
It certainly is a pretty boat, but be sure you're happy with the power. Does it have trim tabs? I use mine a lot.
Write back if you have any other questions.
Good luck, Joe
