Hello everyone, i am in the process of figuring out what outboard and what hp outboard to hang on new bracket. The boat is an 88 23’ steiger craft block island. Modified v hull. The newer steigers come with a deep v type of hull.
The boat will be setup for fishing. We fish offshore weather permitting. 110 gallon new fuel tank.
After talking with several different outboard shops i am hearing 200-250 hp. Im curious to see what you guys think about horsepower and manufacturer. I do not have the actual weight of the hull. On steigers website they have the 23 block island weighing in at 5000 pounds.
Does anyone know if i can post pictures? I am new and have only posted a couple of times. Thank you, patrick

A little slim on fuel to get too crazy.
Twin 150’s would push the boat well and get you a decent fuel range

Locally...Suzuki owns the repower market. Yamaha rules the OEM roost and Honda is the choice of guides and first responders.

When i bought the boat i thought she needed a deck and stringers. After tearing out the deck i found the fiberglass stringers. It was a good day. I had the new fuel tank fabricated to fit the existing opening. The last tank was 80+ gallons. The new tank is a tight fit. Luthers in RI built the new tank. I would highly recommend them.
Im leaning towards a suzuki. If I remember correctly their 200 hp is only a 4 cylinder. I would likely move up to the 225 to get into the 6 cylinder class.
My last boat was a steiger with a 2015 etec. I loved that motor. Lots of lower end torque. Very responsive. My plan was to go with another etec until the recent changes with brp stopping the production of the etecs. The reason for the change of plans would be for resale purposes
