I believe the motor is a 1978 model. It's a 225 crossflow. The operator said it shut off suddenly as he powered up coming out of a no wake zone. It has no spark. It has a vented flywheel and the magnent(s) appear to be cracked/compromised in some way, possibly pieces missing. Is this a common problem with the 35 amp alternator/magneto units? Just looking for ideas or insight before getting into it - Mike

yes on the magnets, you can get replacements and use JB weld to reattach them. The HP is likely a 235 not 225,no crossflow 225,235 max on the xflow, looper, yrs later had 225

Mikesea, thanks for the reply. I'll get the model# and start looking for some magnets. Appreciate the input.
