what is the difference between left hand rotation and right hand??? will power head from left hand work on right hand lower unit?? is the difference in just the gears, are the power heads the same?? or is the lower unit what determines left or right rotation. i need to know if i can put counter rotation power head on right rotation lower unit. thanks :)

i know for the 120/140 its the lower unit that makes up the counter rotation, and in a 185/200/225 parts book it shows the same. hope that helps.

The early counter rotation OMCs actually turned the powerhead backwards. Thats where that starter came from. Nowdays the powerheads all turn the same direction. The left hand rotation is achieved in the gearcase.

Good luck!
