The outboard is a 2004 225HPDI the alarm sounds when the shifter is in the neutral position. I know it is under warr. but if it is simple I would rather fix myself. The only time the alarm goes off is when it is in neutral as soon as it is put in to forward or reverse the alarm immediately stops. It can run all day and wont go off until it is put in neutral and then there she goes again. Thanks in advance for any help Matt!

its the large filter on the side of the block, its possible the hull was also rigged with the yamaha seperator that has a water sensor in it as well.

like I say, I cant remember the year they changed the water in fuel alarm nor did I agree with it yet they did. now the water in fuel alarm will only activate if the shift switch is in nutral.
so if your heading for the gulf stream and she picks up water it will not alarm and run till it quits if enough water is presant.
it may also be possible the shift switch is mis adjusted.
jury is out on that one.

Rod Just got the chance to look at the problem and it did have a very small amount of trash in the bottom of the filter. I havent had a chance to take it out yet but ran it on the hose for a short time and this seemed to cure the problem. Thanks for the help, Matt!
