225 evinrude driveshaft clearence

i just finished assembling lower unit, changed from 1 pc. drive shaft to 2 pc. after assembly i can make drive shaft swim .030 in agaist thrust bearing and foward gear, is this normal. pinion<br />was shimed with proper omc gage.

perchdog,Is this .030 clearance reading is an "axial" reading after pinion nut torque?If so I'd say your good to go.Always advisable to take teardown readings before disassembly for reference.

pinion and shaft were to tore up at disassembly. went to (2) pc drive shaft altering original (1) pc shaft and using lower shaft from siera (for later models), would like to get omc or siera number on upper shaft. any how thanks.
