Hi eveyone.. Im still in search of a good deal on Starcraft or other tinnie.
I have ran acrross this one and looked at it.. Just wanted your thoughts on the boat/ price.
Here is what I know of the boat. Been sitting for over a year. Gas tank had been sucked dry and motor was winterized. Hull looks real clean no dents or dings hardly any marks actually.. Interior, is decent its going to need some vinal replaced the dash panel is cracked in two and the cubby has a leak at one windw. He has replaced the floor so no soft spots there but he did say the transom is getting soft in the corners. No real accessories with it as he tripped them to put on the boat he is running now. Trailer will need tail lights and tires also the surge brakes do not work. He did pour a little gas in the carb and it fired right up and sounded good. Engine and outdrive look real clean.. The boat doesnt look like its been used a lot just sitting outside.. He is at his lowest at 3500.00

Both great looking options there. Man that Sylvan looks sharp!!! The OMC set up would be a deterrent for me personally, though, there is a conversion to go with a Merc outdrive if you ever want to go that route.

"BITE ME II" decals would be an issue for me but that 4.3 in there is awesome! Bummer you'd have to pull the whole thing out to replace that transom.

Hmmmmm...

I dunno....

I'm such a bottom feeder I don't think I could pull the trigger on either of those. Sub $3K I'd be seriously thinking about it. Again, I'm cheap though!

Man that's a toughy. The Sylvan looks like a much nicer boat. The V6 Merc is better than the 4 banger OMC for lots of reasons though. Both are priced very fairly though.

Yah, I kinda wish that Merc was in the Sylvan eh. I think we'd have a sweet $3500 boat:)

Ya I am kind of a deal finder myself.. I think I may throw a low cash offer and see what he does.. I found a real project boat that has sat for 10 plus years in a yard and supprisingly the motor and everything is free and the floor and transom is solid. The trailer is pretty bad tires are in the dirt six inches and she wont budge from 1200.00 I offered here 500.. Good things come to those who wait..

Yah, I think I may have mentioned this before on your previous thread but...

That $2500 to $5500 price point is a tricky one sometimes. In many cases those are boats that look great on the outside yet need all new deck/transom/panels/bulkheads/wiring/plumbing/engine maintenance....

In that case you might as well have gotten a dirt cheap one that you KNOW needs all that stuff.

Course, sometimes there is a nice/solid one in the mix too.:)

Out of these 2 the Sylvan seems the best. Are the electronics staying on? I see rod holders, are there down riggers?
