Stripped out a 28' Bayliner which had a OMC 5.7 stringer.Motor run s excellent. No luck trying to sell it, so I got to thinking ,lets find a boat to put it in.Local boat repair shop has a 22' Islander with bad cobra combo for cheap. What do you guys think?

22 Islander: great

v8 repower out of a carp rotted bayliner: great

swapping in an obsolete carp v8/outdrive combo into a great 22ft tinny: nope, not remotely a good idea......

Not an I/O guy, but isnt the Cobra keyhole simlar to a Mercruiser and the OMC Stringer the massive gapping hole drive? Hence the not a good idea, runner or not....

Yeah that stringer is obsolete scrap, go save the Islander and repower with an Alpha One Merc.
