I went fishing on the Lacrosse river today using large shiners. I lost a very heavy fish 5 min after being there. Northern or Catfish is my guess. Caught at least 20 walleyes one was 22 inches most were about 13-15 inches though ........ 3 sheapshead one very big. I lost 2 or three others ( kept cutting my line, no leaders
) For about 2 hours kept getting huge strikes and I would set the hook fight the fish for a min and he would spit the hook, so on my last shiner I let him take it for about 10 min and then set the hook.....It was a Gar about 36 inches......all and all a great 5 hour fishing day.
