Yes that sounds about right, the dealer got me for both of my engines, I paid the first time but after that I have changed the oil, filters, and lubed the linkages myself. Sucks don't it?

i thought the dealership that i work at was bad
we push the package deal
owner includes "break-in" 20 hr service check for free on all new purchases
(parts cost with 1.0 hr flat rate labor(50.00), added to purchase price of new motor)

it includes
- compression readings
- engine oil, filter drain, install new filter
and refill with new oil
- gear case oil(drain and refill)
- rigging and engine condition check(wires hoses)

this solves some issues
1- customers that come back for "free service"
are invited to watch n learn while its done.
2- we ensure engine has a fighting chance (bad
customers do strange things sometimes)
makes for less warrenty issues.
3- we have never had a customer unsatisfied with
our efforts to support him.(brings in more
customers)

done to combat dumb dumb work (mistreated engines) it has brought in a lot more customers and i highly recommend suggesting it to dealerships.

Probably because Honda recommends that the valve clearance be checked and adjusted in the first 20 hours.
