Hello all, I’ve been having some trouble with my 2021 8hp Mercury 4 stroke tiller outboard. Whenever I’m going out in the morning to fish, my engine will crank first pull. The motor pees strong and runs exceptionally. I’ll stop to fish and I’ll shut my motor off and I’ll continue doing this as I go to my different spots, however around the 4th or 5th time starting the engine back up, it just sounds dead. It doesn’t even start to turn over or sound like it’s about to start up. This usually leaves me stranded and I end up having to use my trolling motor all the way back to my dock. So last night I went to crank it on the bell clamp to get some freshwater through the engine and it started first pull as always, however when I cranked the pull cord the bell clamp fell off and my engine was running without water so I shut the engine off immediately. I went to put the bell clamp back on and fire it back up and the same thing happened, it just sounds dead and it won’t turn over. The mechanics at bass pro did a full once over of the engine and told me nothing was wrong with it and they shut it off and restarted it multiple times and had no issues. If anyone has any clue what the issue could be I would appreciate any advice. This motor is only a year old with not a lot of hours on it and it’s been very frustrating dealing with this problem, so anything helps. I included 2 videos to this, 1 showing my motor starting first pull, and the other showing what it sounds like when it won’t crank.
