We're racing just down the road from me this weekend. Two races, X-Men and Trucks, on Saturday and Cup on Sunday. Cool, but dry and sunny for the weekend. The weekend schedule from Nascar.com;

News and Notes
  • Next week we have the Bristol dirt races. Chase Elliott tried to get a Truck ride, but came up short.
  • Plenty of racing on Bristol's temporary dirt track. TWT won a Super Late Model race on Friday.
  • All the grandstand seats have been sold for the races this weekend. Not the pre-viral capacity, but the max seating limit has been sold out.
  • Animal cruelty or a good thing? Anthony Alfredo and the GA Peanut Commission donated 1440 jars of peanut butter to Canine Assistants for training service dogs. I don't know how it's done, but it's good thing and not like when I gave doggy pills in a glob of peanut butter one time to my pup once. Poor baby!
  • I don't know how to take this from Toyota

    • A tweeter disagrees; 2019 with practice toyota had 19 wins and a Cup Championship. 2020 no practice 9 wins. Data and facts speak loudly.
  • Hamlin and Truex start on the front row on Sunday.
  • Phoenix penalties - 5 loose lugnuts, 2 in Cup and 3 X-Nuts..
  • TV ratings - 2.3 rating/3.857 million viewers for Sunday's Instacart 500; lower than spring Phoenix last year (4.592M), but that was fourth race and not on Selection Sunday; last year's fifth race wasn't till May.
iBoats Fantasy Live
  • While Cup is still looking for a repeat winner, iFL has one! FlaCowboy collected the points and 🏆 last Sunday at Phoenix. Congrats, Cowboy.
  • FlaCowboy is also the iFL overall leader.
  • Rosters for Atlanta lock at 3:10 on Sunday.

Gook luck and stay safe;

Humpty.

Why is it that as soon as I post about starting at the rear, that this happens?

#45-Moffitt also dropping to the rear; engine change

Any more?

Competition caution. You know who leads. How did he start on the front row?

Caution for a spin by Massey. Truex was caught speeding in the pits and will restart in the back. Let's hope he stays there and an X-Reg can win.

After the X-Race last night there was a little dust-up between Gragson and Hemric. Both had trouble getting into their pit boxes for the final stop and they were jockeying around to avoid penalties. Eventually Gragson hit Hemric's car and that set the stage for after-race "discussions".

Nascar has reviewed the video and has said there was no foul by Gragson, but there may be some penalties coming for unrestrained enthusiasm. LOL

Inspections began at 8 AM this morning and they are still going at it, 5 1/2 hours later. Word is that Elliott flunked twice and will start at the rear. No idea on the rest of the cars.
